Tottenham Hotspur have made it clear that Lucas Bergvall is not for sale, despite fresh transfer interest emerging while the midfielder recovers from injury.

The 20-year-old has been sidelined since January after undergoing ankle surgery, with Sweden manager Graham Potter recently casting doubt over his availability for March’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

Tottenham firm on Lucas Bergvall stance

According to Fotboll Direkt, several Premier League clubs have been monitoring Bergvall’s situation ahead of the summer window.

Recent reports in England have linked Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool with interest. Liverpool are said to have made initial enquiries regarding the possibility of a deal, while Villa reportedly explored a move during the winter window.

Despite that attention, Tottenham’s position is described as unequivocal: Bergvall is “not for sale”.

The Swedish outlet claims that last summer a figure of SEK 700m, approximately €65.6m, was mentioned internally as a valuation benchmark. Interested clubs are believed to be aware of that level, but no formal bids have been submitted.

Having followed Tottenham’s squad development closely this season, Bergvall is viewed internally as a long-term midfield pillar rather than a tradable asset.

Contract strength underpins Spurs confidence

Tottenham agreed a deal with Djurgårdens IF in February 2024 for Bergvall to join later that year. Since arriving, he has made 71 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and eight assists.

In April 2025, Spurs rewarded him with a new contract running until 2031, reinforcing their leverage in any negotiation.

His injury has not dampened external interest, but it remains too early to suggest Tottenham’s resolve will weaken.

What’s Next

Bergvall’s recovery timeline will determine whether he features before the end of the domestic season. Sweden continue to assess his fitness ahead of international fixtures in March 2026.

For Tottenham, retaining key young talent appears central to long-term planning under Igor Tudor.

Will Tottenham’s stance hold if a major bid materialises in the summer?
