Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Sunday, becoming the first side to win at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium thanks to a brace from Micky van de Ven.

While the result reaffirmed Thomas Frank’s tactical influence, Spurs continue to battle a growing list of absentees, including captain Cristian Romero, striker Dominic Solanke, and full-back Destiny Udogie.

Here’s the latest on Tottenham’s injury situation and potential return dates ahead of another crucial month in the campaign.

Cristian Romero

Romero was originally named in the starting XI to face Aston Villa earlier this month but pulled out during the warm-up after struggling with an adductor issue.

Although the Argentine travelled with the squad for subsequent fixtures, Frank decided not to risk him — ruling him out of both the Monaco draw and Everton win.

“Cuti just walked out on the grass running [with] some of the performance guys,” Frank said. “So positive, progressing, no time frame, but I don't expect it to be a longer one.”

Romero has resumed light training on grass and could be in line for a return in November.

Potential return date: November 2025

Dominic Solanke

The striker underwent a minor ankle procedure last month to repair an ongoing issue that first flared up in pre-season. While he won’t be rushed back, Solanke has now resumed solo pitch sessions and is progressing well.

“Dominic is positive,” said Frank. “He’s taking steps in the right direction every day and was on the grass again today. It’s progressing forward.”

If recovery continues at the current pace, Solanke could return in time for the mid-November fixtures.

Potential return date: November 2025

Destiny Udogie

Udogie picked up a knee injury while on international duty with Italy and has missed Tottenham’s last two matches. Frank confirmed the issue is not serious but that the full-back is still completing rehabilitation work indoors.

“Destiny is not on the grass yet but still progressing, so again, not a longer one,” said Frank.

The Italian could also be available next month if his recovery stays on track.

Potential return date: November 2025

Radu Drăgușin

The Romanian defender has been out for nine months following knee surgery, but there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel. Drăgușin has returned to training and is now focusing on regaining match fitness.

Romania manager Mircea Lucescu named him in the national squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but Spurs are expected to manage his workload carefully.

Potential return date: November 2025

Yves Bissouma

Bissouma’s return from injury took a cruel twist during the international break, when he suffered a ligament injury to his ankle while playing for Mali.

The midfielder was stretchered off shortly after coming on as a substitute and now faces several weeks out.

“Biss, unfortunately, had a situation with the national team,” Frank said. “He got a ligament injury to his ankle that will keep him out for weeks.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski is still recovering from patella surgery following Tottenham’s Europa League final appearance last season. The winger hasn’t yet featured this campaign but is inching closer to a comeback.

“There’s a good chance we’ll see Dejan before the end of the year,” Frank said. “He’s hopefully not too far away now.”

Potential return date: December 2025

James Maddison

Maddison remains a long-term absentee after suffering a torn ACL during pre-season against Newcastle. The England midfielder underwent surgery and is not expected to feature again this season.

Potential return date: Summer 2026

Analyst Verdict — by Liam Rowe, FootballPlace

Thomas Frank’s impact at Spurs has been immediate — but so has his injury luck. With nine senior players sidelined, Tottenham’s depth is being tested early in his tenure.

The good news: Romero, Udogie, and Solanke are all trending towards November returns, while Radu Drăgușin’s reintegration will add depth in defence. The bad: Bissouma and Maddison are long-term issues, and Kulusevski’s timeline still isn’t concrete.

If Spurs can stay competitive until December, their squad should look significantly stronger heading into the festive period.

Key Insights

  • Spurs are still missing nine first-team players despite Everton win.
  • Romero, Udogie, Solanke expected to return in November.
  • Bissouma facing weeks out with ankle ligament injury.
  • Kulusevski close to full training; Maddison out for the season.
  • Thomas Frank’s side up to third in the Premier League after Everton victory.

What’s Next

Tottenham’s focus now turns to preparing for back-to-back league fixtures before the international break. Frank will be hoping November brings both momentum — and much-needed reinforcements.
