Sunderland injury update as Brobbey and Cirkin near Brighton return

Brian Brobbey and Dennis Cirkin nearing Sunderland return

Speaking ahead of the match, Le Bris confirmed both Brobbey and Cirkin have trained fully during the week and may be available for selection against Brighton.

The forward has been absent since Sunderland’s defeat to Fulham in February due to a groin problem, while Cirkin has also been sidelined since the same fixture.

The return of Brobbey could provide Sunderland with an additional attacking option after the striker missed several important matches in recent weeks.

Cirkin’s availability would also strengthen defensive depth, particularly with Sunderland managing a number of injuries across the squad.

Several Sunderland players ruled out for Brighton match

Despite the positive update on Brobbey and Cirkin, Le Bris confirmed Sunderland will still be without several players for the Brighton fixture.

Nordi Mukiele, Robin Roefs and Reinildo Mandava are all continuing their recovery programmes and will not be ready for Saturday’s match.

However, the Sunderland manager suggested the trio are progressing well and could return to training soon.

Bertrand Traoré facing extended spell on sidelines

Le Bris also confirmed that Bertrand Traoré is expected to remain unavailable for a longer period after suffering a recent injury setback.

The Sunderland boss explained the club will adopt a cautious approach with the winger as medical staff assess his recovery.
