Burnley manager Scott Parker insists his side will “respect” Manchester United but believes they can capitalise on the Red Devils’ fragile start under Rúben Amorim this weekend.
The Clarets have collected one win and one loss from their opening Premier League fixtures, while United are still searching for their first victory of the season after a 1-1 draw at Fulham and a 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Parker underlined the challenge but suggested Burnley’s steady improvement gives them a chance to cause an upset at Old Trafford.
Parker’s Press Conference Quotes
“No fresh injuries, we have been able to improve on where we are. Some of the lads got minutes during the week and that helps them get up to speed.” — Scott Parker
The Burnley boss added:
“We are playing against an exceptional and a historic football club. They have some top quality players, who can change games at any moment. We are under no illusions of the task we have ahead of us.”
Why Parker Believes Burnley Can Compete
Parker stressed that Burnley have no fresh injury concerns and that minutes for fringe players in midweek have improved squad sharpness. With United under pressure and still adapting to Amorim’s philosophy, Parker sees opportunity.
He also admitted Burnley are still working in the transfer market, looking to strengthen while ensuring some squad players move on for game time.

United’s winless start under Amorim contrasts with Burnley’s stable opening, leaving this fixture far less predictable than in recent years.
Analyst Verdict
FootballPlace analyst John William says Burnley should sense opportunity:
“United under Amorim look like a work in progress — they’ve lacked fluidity in attack and solidity at the back. Burnley, with Parker’s compact style, will look to frustrate and nick moments in transition. Old Trafford has seen bigger upsets, and Parker is right to believe his side have a chance.”
He added: “The big question is whether United click into gear. If Amorim finds a rhythm, Burnley could be overwhelmed. But until then, every opponent will feel they have a chance.”

It won't be a shock anymore - hopefully Amorim could stay until the end of September because every time we go there, they change their manager...
