Scott McTominay has taken Serie A by storm, scoring his 10th goal of the season for Napoli in their crucial 1-0 victory over Monza — a result that has brought them level on points with league leaders Inter Milan.
The Scotland international rose highest to meet a curling cross from Giacomo Raspadori in the 72nd minute, nodding past the Monza goalkeeper and sealing three vital points in the title race.
Just days earlier, McTominay had bagged a brace against Empoli, scoring a thunderous long-range strike followed by a clinical header. His contributions helped Napoli to a 3-0 win that reignited their Scudetto hopes after a dip in form.
Matching His Manchester United Peak
This goal brings McTominay level with his best-ever season total — 10 goals — previously set in 2022/23 while at Manchester United. That season, his goals came across multiple competitions: 7 in the Premier League, 2 in the FA Cup, and 1 in the Champions League.

With five league games remaining, McTominay could easily surpass that total and finish with his most prolific season to date.
“We just have to keep doing our job, keep winning. At the business end of the season that’s what you got to do,” said McTominay following the Monza win.
“It’s about reaching that level every game. Our coach is very demanding and expects us to be consistent.
We need to keep pushing Inter.”
Antonio Conte has praised McTominay's adaptability since arriving from Manchester United for £25.2 million last summer. The midfielder has featured in various roles — from deep-lying playmaker to advanced midfielder — thriving in Conte’s dynamic system.
“He is a complete player,” said Conte. “He can play as a trequartista behind the striker, a mezz’ala in a three-man midfield, or even wide in a 5-4-1. He’s versatile, smart, and reliable.”
McTominay has started all but two league matches and played the full 90 minutes in 28 of his 33 appearances — a testament to his endurance and importance.
Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo added:
“We knew he was good, but maybe we didn’t expect such an immediate impact. He’s been fantastic.”
The Road Ahead
Napoli have five fixtures remaining — only one of which is against a top-half opponent. Inter, meanwhile, face four top-half teams, including Bologna. While Inter still hold a game in hand, Napoli are applying pressure at the perfect time.
With McTominay in red-hot form, the title race promises to go down to the wire.

Ofcourse he will, even his sister. All jokes aside, Scott is doing phenomenal I don't think Man U have expected this, otherwise he wouldn't be sold, just my 2 cents guess.
