Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been urged to remain in the Premier League amid growing speculation surrounding a potential summer transfer.

The Italian international has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A in recent months, with Juventus frequently mentioned as a possible destination.

However, some voices in Italian media believe the midfielder’s future should remain in England rather than returning to his homeland.

Sandro Tonali valued beyond reach of Serie A clubs

Journalist Peppe Di Stefano believes Newcastle’s valuation alone should effectively rule out a transfer back to Italy this summer.

Speaking to Radio Rossonera, Di Stefano argued that Serie A clubs simply cannot compete financially with Premier League sides when it comes to signing the midfielder.

“I think Newcastle’s demands are out of reach for Italian clubs. Sandro is worth €80m–€100m. Who can afford that?” — Peppe Di Stefano

He added that Tonali’s level now demands that he continues playing at the very top of European football.

“I hope he stays in the Premier League, or at least at a top-tier club.” — Peppe Di Stefano

AC Milan return viewed as unrealistic

Tonali previously built his reputation at AC Milan, helping the club win the Serie A title and compete in the Champions League.

While a romantic return to San Siro remains a popular idea among supporters, Di Stefano believes the financial reality makes such a move impossible for now.

“The mistake was selling him, but how can you think about signing him now if you don’t spend more than €30m?” — Peppe Di Stefano

According to the journalist, Milan supporters may dream of seeing Tonali return and eventually captain the club, but that scenario would only be realistic much further into the future.

Premier League clubs could enter the race

Speculation around Tonali intensified recently after comments from his agent suggested a summer move could be possible.

If Newcastle were willing to consider offers, several Premier League clubs could theoretically afford a deal valued between €80m and €100m.

Clubs such as Arsenal or Manchester City would have the financial resources to compete for the midfielder should he become available.

Newcastle unlikely to offer discounts

Newcastle United are under no pressure to sell Tonali and would likely demand a substantial fee if they were to entertain offers.

The 24-year-old remains one of the club’s most valuable assets and is widely regarded as one of Italy’s best midfielders.

For now, any transfer speculation remains early, but the midfielder’s future could become one of the major talking points heading into the summer window.
