Roma are working to loan Brighton striker Evan Ferguson as soon as possible after receiving the green light from the player himself.

The 19-year-old forward has approved the switch, according to Corriere dello Sport, and Roma sporting director Frederic Massara is now accelerating negotiations to finalise the deal.

Roma want to wrap up the Evan Ferguson loan from Brighton quickly – before Atalanta, who joined the race late, make a serious bid to hijack it.

Ferguson Says Yes – But Will Atalanta Hijack It?

“Evan gave his OK and now the club wants to seal the loan before others can react,” reported *Corriere dello Sport* in Rome.

Ferguson, who struggled for minutes at Brighton last season, is keen on a move that gives him regular football in a top European league. Roma are confident they’ll land him on a season-long loan, with terms currently being finalised with Brighton.

However, Corriere della Sera report that Atalanta are trying to force their way in, seeing the teenager as a key piece in their forward rebuild. Brighton are aware of both clubs’ interest.

Ferguson’s 2024/25 Season Stats

Stat (2024/25) Evan Ferguson
Appearances 22
Goals 5
Assists 2

Analyst Verdict

Ferguson is too talented to sit on the bench — this Roma move feels like the right decision at the right time. If Atalanta want to beat Roma, they’ll need to move now.

Key Insights

  • Roma want Ferguson deal done quickly
  • Player has approved the loan move
  • Atalanta now trying to hijack it
  • Brighton open to loan but working on final terms
  • Player needs regular game time after limited minutes in 24/25

What’s Next?

Roma hope to get Ferguson to Italy by next week to begin pre-season under Gian Piero Gasperini. Brighton will likely demand guarantees around playing time before finalising terms.

Would a Roma loan be the best move for Evan Ferguson's development – or should Brighton keep him in the Premier League?
