Fulham suffer major setback as Rodrigo Muniz ruled out until new year with hamstring injury

Fulham have suffered a significant setback with confirmation that striker Rodrigo Muniz will be sidelined until the new year after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old Brazilian forward will undergo surgery in the coming days after limping off just 17 minutes into his substitute appearance during Fulham’s 2–0 defeat to Everton last weekend. The injury comes as a crushing blow for both Marco Silva and the player himself, who had only recently returned from a similar issue.

Muniz’s absence leaves Marco Silva with only two fit senior strikers — Raúl Jiménez and Jonah Kusi-Asare — as Fulham’s injury list continues to grow.

Jiménez, 34, has only just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines and has struggled for form this season, while 18-year-old Kusi-Asare, on loan from Bayern Munich, is considered a long-term project rather than an immediate first-team solution.

His physical presence and pressing ability were seen as ideal for Fulham’s high-energy system, making his loss particularly damaging as the club battles to stay clear of the relegation zone.

“It’s a tough one for Rodrigo and for us,” a club source told FootballPlace.co.uk. “He worked incredibly hard to get back fit and was desperate to make an impact. Unfortunately, these things happen — we’ll support him fully through recovery.”

Fulham sit just one point above the relegation zone, and Muniz’s injury could force the club into the January transfer market. Silva has already hinted that he would like to add attacking depth, and the Brazilian’s extended absence may accelerate those plans.

Names such as Armando Broja and Serhou Guirassy have been tentatively linked in recent weeks, though much will depend on the club’s financial flexibility and Muniz’s post-surgery prognosis.
