Raúl Jiménez rejects Mexico return as Premier League move targeted

Raúl Jiménez is reportedly determined to remain in the Premier League this summer, despite renewed speculation over a potential return to Mexico.

The Fulham striker is expected to become a free agent when his contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the 2025/26 season. With the club closing in on a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Ricardo Pepi, indications are growing that Jiménez’s time in west London is nearing its conclusion.

However, a switch back to Liga MX does not appear imminent.

According to reports in Mexico, relayed by El Futbolero and journalist Kerry Ruiz, the 34-year-old has no intention of returning to his homeland this summer. While Jiménez has previously spoken about a desire to play for Club América before retiring, that move is now considered premature.

Instead, the Mexico international believes he still has the level required to compete in England’s top flight. The report claims he is targeting a move to another mid-table Premier League side rather than leaving the division entirely.

Having followed Fulham’s recruitment plans in recent weeks, the expected arrival of Pepi strengthens the sense that a parting of ways is likely. However, Jiménez appears keen to control the next step of his career rather than opt for a sentimental return.

It remains too early to confirm concrete negotiations. At this stage, his representatives are said to be exploring options.

Mexican outlet TUDN previously linked both Everton and West Ham United with interest in Jiménez. Those clubs are again being mentioned as potential destinations should he depart Fulham on a free transfer.

Everton’s league position makes them a more stable option at present, while West Ham’s situation may depend on their final standing. Much will hinge on squad planning and budget flexibility this summer.

From a contractual perspective, Jiménez’s free-agent status increases his attractiveness. However, age profile and wage expectations will factor heavily into any approach.

Fulham’s summer business is likely to accelerate once the season concludes. If Pepi’s arrival is finalised, Jiménez’s exit could become official quickly.

The next development will depend on whether Everton, West Ham or another Premier League club formalise interest. However, at this stage, the player’s priority is clear: remain in England.
