Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund is now the subject of growing interest from Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan — despite a goal-shy season that raised questions over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

The Denmark international endured a miserable 2024–25 campaign, scoring just four Premier League goals in 32 appearances. Signed for £72 million from Atalanta in 2023, Hojlund has yet to justify the outlay — and may find himself pushed to the fringes under new boss Ruben Amorim, especially with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo arriving this summer.

According to CalcioMercato, both Juve and Milan are exploring potential deals, though a permanent move looks unlikely unless United dramatically lower their £40m valuation.

Why Hojlund’s United Future Looks in Doubt

With Amorim now steering a tactical overhaul, United are focused on sharp, pressing forwards — and Hojlund’s profile may no longer fit the system.

The 22-year-old endured a 22-game goal drought between December and March — totalling over 22 hours without scoring in all competitions. Despite his clear commitment to stay and fight for his place, the club’s recruitment strategy tells a different story.

“We need finishers with mobility — it’s what this system demands,” said a Carrington source. — Manchester Evening News

Juventus Transfer Plans: Hojlund as a Backup?

Juve are preparing for a forward reshuffle that depends heavily on Dusan Vlahovic’s exit. If the Serbian is sold, the club plans to move for Randal Kolo Muani and Jonathan David.

But if those deals stall, Hojlund has emerged as a contingency option — especially with United open to a loan deal with option to buy.

AC Milan Also in the Race

Milan are tracking the same transfer dominoes. Igli Tare, now advising Milan’s recruitment, has reportedly made direct contact with United regarding Hojlund’s availability.

Should their primary targets become unavailable, Hojlund could be fast-tracked into their shortlist — particularly given his familiarity with Serie A and age profile.

Hojlund’s 2024–25 Stats

Competition Appearances Goals Assists Minutes Played
Premier League 32 4 2 1,921
FA Cup 3 1 0 210
UCL 6 1 0 370

Analyst Verdict: Too Soon to Give Up?

Hojlund’s raw athleticism, aerial threat and early potential haven’t disappeared — but confidence and tactical clarity have. United may regret cutting ties so early, particularly if he rediscovers form back in Italy.

If Amorim can’t mould him into the system, a structured loan to Serie A with guaranteed minutes might be the best-case scenario for all parties.

Key Takeaways

  • 🇩🇰 Rasmus Hojlund scored just 4 PL goals in 2024–25
  • 🇮🇹 Juventus and AC Milan monitoring situation closely
  • 🔁 Loan with buy option increasingly likely
  • 🔄 Juve’s move depends on Vlahovic, Milan await market clarity
  • 🧠 Amorim prefers more mobile forwards like Cunha and Mbeumo

What’s Next for Rasmus Hojlund?

Expect developments in the coming two to three weeks, especially as Juventus accelerate plans to sell Dusan Vlahovic. If that domino falls, Hojlund could quickly become a primary target — particularly on a structured loan with an option to buy.

For AC Milan, things are slightly more delayed. They’re waiting on other targets and may only move for Hojlund if alternative deals collapse.

As for Manchester United, Amorim is expected to make a final decision on Hojlund’s role after the club’s pre-season tour, with clarity likely by early August.

United fans — and Hojlund himself — won’t have to wait long to learn his fate.

Should Man United send Hojlund on loan — or keep faith in the £72m striker for one more season?

I still think he has got it in him to be a good striker, one more season, now with Cunha and Mbeumo I expect that he will thrive.. but lets wait and see.
