According to talkSPORT, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are all interested in signing Raheem Sterling after Chelsea removed him from their first-team squad. The winger is reportedly keen to stay in London.

Raheem Sterling could finally bring an end to his Chelsea struggles, with three Premier League clubs — Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham — showing interest in the 30-year-old winger after his complete omission from the Blues’ senior squad.

Sterling has endured a difficult two-year spell at Stamford Bridge and was loaned out to Arsenal last season, where he managed just one goal in 28 appearances. With Enzo Maresca informing him he has no future at the club, Chelsea have now taken the brutal step of removing his photo and profile from the club website — part of a sweeping nine-player axe.

Why Sterling’s Chelsea Exit Now Looks Inevitable

Sterling still has two years left on his contract, signed when he joined from Manchester City for £47.5m in 2022. But after 81 appearances and 19 goals in all competitions, Chelsea are looking to offload his £325,000-a-week wages to free up space under FFP restrictions.

Despite interest from abroad earlier this summer — including Serie A champions Napoli — financial concerns have pushed the focus back to London-based Premier League clubs.

“If there was an opportunity to go somewhere else, I would be open to it,” Sterling told the Financial Times earlier this year. — FT, March 2025

Who Wants Him Now?

Fulham are reportedly leading the race to sign Sterling. The Cottagers view him as a potential marquee addition to strengthen their attack following the departure of Willian.

Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation. However, matching Sterling’s current wage demands could be a significant challenge for the Eagles.

West Ham United remain in the frame as well. Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is said to be keen on a reunion, having worked closely with Sterling during his time at Stamford Bridge. A move across London to the London Stadium could provide Sterling with both familiarity and regular football.

Analyst Verdict

Sterling's time at Chelsea has felt like a slow fade, and this summer marks the point of no return. With the club literally erasing him from their first-team squad online, a move away is both logical and overdue. The only remaining hurdle is his wage package — which may need to be subsidised by Chelsea or reduced by the player.

If he is willing to compromise, a London stay at Fulham or West Ham could offer Sterling the reset he desperately needs.

Key Insights

  • Sterling removed from Chelsea’s official first-team squad
  • Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are interested
  • Napoli previously considered a move, but pulled out due to finances
  • Winger has 2 years left on £325k/week deal
  • Scored only once in 28 games on loan at Arsenal last season

What’s Next?

Sterling's future will likely be resolved in the coming weeks. Whether Chelsea agree to subsidise his wages or a buying club makes a compromise, his days at Stamford Bridge are over.

Expect Fulham and West Ham to firm up interest if Sterling indicates a willingness to reduce his salary.

Should Raheem Sterling take a wage cut to stay in the Premier League — or look abroad?
