Radu Dragusin seeks advice as Tottenham defender weighs Roma transfer

Radu Dragusin’s future at Tottenham has reached a critical stage, with the defender actively seeking advice as interest from AS Roma intensifies.

The Romanian centre-back has been on Roma’s radar for several weeks, with Italian media previously reporting that he is open to a permanent exit from north London. He explained that Dragusin is at a crossroads, with two or three concrete discussions currently ongoing in Italy and Germany. The former national team boss added that he has encouraged the defender to approach the decision pragmatically, stressing the importance of choosing the right environment rather than rushing into a move.

Iordănescu made it clear he believes Dragusin’s qualities remain unquestionable.

He said the Tottenham defender needs belief and backing to rediscover his best form, insisting Dragusin is mentally strong and well-equipped to handle the pressure of a fresh challenge. According to Iordănescu, regular communication has continued between them, underlining how seriously the player is taking this decision.

Dragusin has featured just once since returning from injury, and while he is now fully fit, his route into the starting XI appears blocked. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero remain first-choice options, while Kevin Danso has impressed as cover.

That context makes a move increasingly appealing, particularly with Roma able to offer both European football and a clearer role in defence.

Dragusin previously thrived in Serie A with Genoa, and the prospect of working under Gian Piero Gasperini — renowned for maximising the potential of quick, aggressive centre-backs — adds further appeal.
