Manager Watch: Postecoglou’s Future in Doubt After Latest Collapse
Tottenham Hotspur’s season plunged deeper into crisis after a chaotic 4-2 defeat to Wolves at Molineux, leaving them 15th in the Premier League and sparking growing questions about the future of manager Ange Postecoglou. Spurs were disjointed and lacked urgency — a performance that suggested the players are no longer responding to their manager. Key individuals like Guglielmo Vicario and Cristian Romero had games to forget. The Italian goalkeeper was at fault for Wolves’ opening two goals, while Romero was shrugged aside with ease by Rayan Ait-Nouri for the third.

Postecoglou: "It Just Happened Today"
Postecoglou addressed the defeat in a post-match interview with Sky Sports, where he surprisingly defended the performance and avoided direct criticism of his players.
"It was a strange game. The performance wasn’t too bad, but the goals we conceded made things very difficult. I thought we actually controlled large parts of the match, but we kept letting in really poor goals," he said. When asked whether the errors were a result of nerves or pressure, the 59-year-old dismissed the suggestion. "No, it’s the first time I’ve seen this happen. So, I don’t think it’s creeping in. It just happened today."

Spurs Fans Not Convinced by the Response
Supporters, however, were left frustrated — not just by the performance, but by the tone of Postecoglou’s comments, which some viewed as disconnected from reality.
Tottenham showed little control in the match, struggling defensively and looking disorganized in transition. Even the usually composed Lucas Bergvall was caught out late on, overrunning a dribble that led directly to Wolves’ fourth goal from substitute Matheus Cunha. The manager’s post-match assessment appeared to downplay a worrying pattern of inconsistency and defensive fragility, raising concerns that he may be underestimating the severity of the team’s decline.

With the club falling further behind in the race for European football and supporters growing restless, Tottenham’s hierarchy may soon have a decision to make. While Postecoglou insists the performance at Molineux was a one-off, the results and performances tell a different story.
If Spurs fail to show signs of revival soon, change may be inevitable.
