Petrovic reaction was defined by satisfaction and relief as the goalkeeper praised his side’s defensive discipline in a tense 0–0 draw against his former club. Đorđe Petrović delivered one of his most assured Bournemouth performances to date, helping the Cherries keep a clean sheet in a match where both teams created chances but neither found the decisive touch.
After a disappointing defeat to Everton in midweek, Bournemouth needed a response. Petrović felt the improvement was obvious: sharper energy, better structure and greater defensive organisation.
Petrovic: “The clean sheet makes it even better”
Speaking after the match, Petrović said the result reflected the intensity and balance of the contest.
“I think the draw was a fair result, and the clean sheet makes it even better. We had our chances, they had a few as well, and it was a really intense game.” — Đorđe Petrović
He emphasised the response following the Everton loss.
“Against Everton we didn’t play at our level, but today there was much better energy. Great focus, playing on the front foot — that was a big positive for us.” — Đorđe Petrović
Concentration key as Bournemouth protect clean sheet
Petrović highlighted the importance of defensive concentration in such narrow Premier League matches — especially when facing a side with Chelsea’s movement and technical quality.
“In these games concentration is so important because one moment can decide it. Part of the job is staying focused even when there’s not a lot of action… staying switched on through communication, helping the defenders, staying connected.” — Đorđe Petrović
Bournemouth limited Chelsea to few clear chances despite the Blues enjoying 61% possession. Petrović made several key interventions, supported by a defensive line that remained compact and disciplined.
He added that clean sheets “take everyone”, praising the collective mentality.
Bournemouth’s improved second half deserved more
Petrović also noted the attacking improvement after the interval.
“In the second half we had some good opportunities to score, and of course there was the disallowed goal in the first half. Hopefully in the next game we get on the scoresheet because I think we probably deserved to today.” — Đorđe Petrović
Bournemouth produced higher pressing intensity and transitioned more aggressively, turning a game of caution into one where Chelsea had to absorb sustained phases of pressure.
What the numbers say
Chelsea controlled more of the ball, but Bournemouth matched them in structure and physical intensity. Petrović’s focus was reflected in a strong defensive output, including timely saves and command of his area.
The key: Bournemouth conceded 0 big chances, a sign of improved organisation after lapses against Everton.
A foundation-building performance
Having analysed Bournemouth throughout this campaign, this felt like one of their most mature defensive showings. In our view, Petrović’s presence provides assurance that elevates the back line — communication, decision-making, and timing of interventions were all significantly improved.
Although some may view a home 0–0 as an opportunity missed, it’s worth questioning whether the real success was stabilising after midweek inconsistency. Against Chelsea’s attacking talent, a clean sheet is a statement.
Why Petrović’s leadership matters
As Bournemouth navigate a tough December, Petrović’s voice and composure will be essential. His comments reflect a player who sees the bigger picture — clean sheets build confidence, confidence builds results, and results build momentum for a club still seeking consistency.

Hard fought? I think Chelsea overal controlled the game, but they weren’t dangerous nor did they create something to get a win at Brounemouth.
