Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared his concern for Jack Grealish and Phil Foden following troubling incidents that occurred after the recent Manchester Derby. The emotional impact on the two players appears to have lingered, as City prepare for a crucial Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Emotional Fallout After Manchester Derby
Grealish was allegedly struck by a fan as he exited the pitch at full-time, while Foden was subjected to offensive chants from the stands — targeting his mother. The response from both players highlighted the emotional toll, with Foden seen sarcastically applauding in reaction to the abuse.
A 20-year-old man, named as Alfie Holt from Droylesden, has since been arrested and charged in connection with the Grealish incident. He has also been banned from Old Trafford.
When asked about the situation, Guardiola admitted both players were still affected.
“He doesn't feel good, but we move forward,” said Guardiola. “It's a crazy world… it’s not just United — this goes beyond a specific club or place. It happens everywhere.”

Guardiola Calls for Integrity in Football
The City boss previously labeled the chants directed at Foden as showing a “lack of class,” but clarified he doesn't blame Manchester United as an institution.
“It's not United — it's the people,” he said. “We are exposed, especially players and managers. To involve someone's mother like that... it shows a lack of integrity. Those responsible should be ashamed.”

City's Champions League Push Under Threat
On the pitch, Manchester City’s 0-0 draw at Old Trafford was a missed opportunity. The result saw them slip outside the top four, with just a handful of matches left in the season. Guardiola now turns his focus to Crystal Palace, who have been in strong form under Oliver Glasner.
Despite the stakes, City are facing a growing injury list. Rodri and Erling Haaland are expected to miss the rest of the league campaign, while defenders John StonesNathan Ake, and Manuel Akanji remain sidelined. Foden is now also a doubt after being subbed off against United.
“This has happened all season — we adapt,” Guardiola said. “You can see it as a problem or a challenge. The position could be worse. I’m proud of how we’ve handled it.”

Praise for Palace Ahead of Saturday Clash
Guardiola acknowledged Palace’s recent run of form and showed admiration for their style of play under Glasner.
“They are in top form. It’s always tough to play Palace here. I admire the manager, the talent, and the physicality of their squad. We have to stay optimistic and finish the season strong.”
