Manchester United have been handed another injury concern after Patrick Dorgu was forced off during Denmark’s Nations League clash with Wales.
Dorgu started on the right flank in Copenhagen but lasted only around 30 minutes before requiring treatment and being withdrawn.
The 21-year-old was seen limping down the tunnel after leaving the pitch, with Reims attacker Mohamed Daramy replacing him.
The nature and severity of Dorgu’s problem have not yet been confirmed, leaving Manchester United waiting anxiously for further information.
Dorgu adds to Carrick’s injury problems
The timing is particularly frustrating for Michael Carrick, whose squad has already suffered several fitness setbacks during the international break.
Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo withdrew from the England squad to focus on their recoveries, while captain Bruno Fernandes suffered a problem while representing Portugal.
Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt also remained away from international duty while working on existing fitness issues at Carrington.
Dorgu has featured six times across all competitions for United this season and provided two assists, making another potential absence particularly unwelcome.
Huge fixtures await Manchester United
Carrick can hardly afford further injuries given United’s difficult start to the Premier League campaign.
They sit 12th after collecting only five points from their opening five matches and desperately need to build momentum when club football resumes.
The schedule makes the situation even more concerning.
United face Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Leeds United in quick succession, meaning Carrick could require every available member of his squad.
Attention will now turn towards Denmark and Manchester United’s medical teams for an assessment of Dorgu.
Until then, United face another uncomfortable injury wait at an already difficult stage of their season.
Key Points
- Patrick Dorgu was forced off around 30 minutes into Denmark’s Nations League game against Wales.

What’s Next?
Denmark manager Brian Riemer could provide the first indication of Dorgu’s condition following the Wales match.
Manchester United will then want their own medical staff to assess the youngster before determining whether he can feature when club football resumes.
Carrick will be particularly desperate for positive news given United’s mounting injury list and poor start to the campaign. With three significant fixtures approaching, losing another regular first-team option would further complicate his attempts to turn their form around.
