Pascal Groß has confirmed he intends to remain at Brighton and Hove Albion after describing his January return to the club as the “best-case scenario”.
The experienced midfielder rejoined Brighton midway through the season following an 18-month spell at Borussia Dortmund and quickly became an important figure once again at the Amex Stadium.
Now, after helping Brighton qualify for European football and earning a place in Germany’s World Cup squad, Groß has made clear he has no plans to leave this summer.
Pascal Groß delighted after Brighton return
Speaking in an interview with Kicker, the 34-year-old admitted returning to Brighton worked out even better than he initially expected.
“It was definitely a very good decision. I was able to play regularly again, and in the Premier League, plus qualifying for European competition and now the World Cup – the best-case scenario I hoped for with this move has come true.” — Pascal Groß
Groß originally left Brighton in 2024 to join Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around €7m, hoping to experience Bundesliga football and regular Champions League competition.
Although he initially played an important role in Germany, his position weakened during the current campaign before Brighton moved to bring him back in January.
Brighton reunion quickly proved successful
The midfielder adapted immediately upon returning to the south coast and played a key role in Brighton securing Conference League qualification for next season.
Having followed Brighton’s midfield structure over recent years, Groß’s tactical intelligence and flexibility consistently allowed the side greater control during difficult matches. Even as he moved into the later stages of his career, his decision-making and technical security remained hugely valuable.
That influence quickly became obvious again after his return.

“Yes, I will definitely continue playing there.” — Pascal Groß
The midfielder now shifts his focus towards Germany’s World Cup campaign after earning selection under Julian Nagelsmann.
