Nuno Espírito Santo admitted he had “never felt so bad on a football pitch” after West Ham United slumped to a humiliating 3–0 defeat away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The loss leaves West Ham nine games without a Premier League win and marooned in the relegation zone, with pressure mounting rapidly on their head coach.
West Ham collapse before half-time
Facing a Wolves side who had not won a league game all season, West Ham were comprehensively outplayed and trailed 3–0 before the interval.
The visitors failed to register a single shot on target, allowing Wolves goalkeeper José Sá a quiet afternoon and gifting the hosts their first clean sheet of the campaign.
West Ham now sit four points from safety, with confidence visibly draining from a squad that never threatened a response.
Nuno’s apology to supporters
Speaking after the final whistle, Nuno did not shy away from the scale of the performance.
“I have to apologise to the fans,” he said. “Those that travelled today, it was embarrassing. What we showed was not good enough.”
The Portuguese coach was visibly shaken, describing the match as one of the lowest moments of his managerial career.
“I don’t recall one day where I felt so bad on a football pitch like today,” he added.
“Mistakes on top of mistakes”
Pressed on what went wrong, Nuno pointed to a total breakdown in execution and reaction.
“It was a failure of many things,” he explained. “Mistakes, not reacting to mistakes, making a mistake and then another mistake, again and again.”
He concluded bluntly: “We didn’t achieve one shot on goal. That says a lot.”

What this means for West Ham
With fixtures running out and confidence at rock bottom, West Ham are edging toward a full-blown relegation fight. The language used by Nuno suggests a manager fully aware of the gravity of the situation, but apologies alone will not arrest the slide.
Unless results arrive quickly, scrutiny around the club’s direction — and the head coach’s future — will only intensify.

It just doesn’t workout - he’s gone. West Ham are pretty much in danger to get relegated
