Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood was forced off injured on international duty ahead of Man United's upcoming visit to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood could be a doubt for their upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester United after picking up an injury during international duty. The 33-year-old was forced off in the second half of New Zealand’s 3-0 victory over New Caledonia on Monday morning (GMT) with what appeared to be a hip injury. He was substituted in the 54th minute, with Kosta Barbarouses coming on and later scoring to help seal the win.

As Wood limped off the field, it became clear that his injury could potentially impact his availability for Forest’s upcoming matches. New Zealand head coach Darren Bazeley commented France24 on the injury, saying: "It's not great for us losing our captain and our goalscorer. It was a difficult thing for the team but they came through so well."

This injury is a concern for Forest as they look ahead to their match against Manchester United at the City Ground next Tuesday. Wood has been in fine form this season, netting 18 Premier League goals and contributing a total of 21 goals in all competitions for Forest. His contribution has been crucial in firing Forest to third in the league standings. His availability will be vital in the final stretch of the campaign, and Forest fans will be hoping that the injury is not too serious.

In terms of win percentage, Forest’s record with Wood in the lineup is significantly stronger. With Wood, Forest have won 68% of their matches this season. However, without him, their win percentage drops to 39%. This stark difference highlights his importance to the team as they approach crucial fixtures, including the upcoming clash with Manchester United.

Ahead of the Manchester United match, Forest’s immediate focus is on their FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. The match will kick off at 5:15pm at the Amex Stadium. Wood has not featured in any of Forest's FA Cup matches so far this season, so the club may be cautious with him as they prioritize the Premier League and their push for Champions League qualification.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest's manager, will likely provide an update on Wood’s condition later this week when he addresses the media in preparation for the Brighton fixture. Fans will be hoping for good news, as Wood has been a key player in Forest’s impressive season.

Forest have won 68% of their matches this season. However, without him, their win percentage drops to 39%. These stats say enough! He has been amazing, but they'll do well, because they play collectively very well.
