Nottingham Forest could revive their pursuit of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi this summer after failing to complete a deal during the January transfer window.

The Italy international came close to joining the City Ground earlier this year, but the move collapsed late in negotiations.

Since the winter window closed, Frattesi’s situation at Inter has done little to improve, potentially opening the door for Forest to make another attempt.

Nottingham Forest move collapsed in January

Reports from Italy claim Nottingham Forest had “practically done everything” to sign Frattesi during the January window.

However, the transfer ultimately fell apart because Inter Milan were unable to secure a replacement.

The Nerazzurri had targeted Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as a potential successor, but that deal failed to materialise, forcing the Italian club to block Frattesi’s departure.

The situation was later confirmed by the player’s agent Giuseppe Riso.

At the time, Forest were managed by Sean Dyche, but the club have since turned to Vítor Pereira after making a managerial change in February.

Frattesi struggling for minutes at Inter Milan

Frattesi has struggled for consistent game time at Inter this season.

The midfielder has played just 1,058 minutes across 28 appearances, including only three starts in Serie A and three in the Champions League.

Since the January transfer window closed, he has featured for just 167 minutes across six league matches, highlighting his reduced role in Cristian Chivu’s squad.

Premier League move could become likely

Inter Milan are expected to make changes to their squad this summer, and Frattesi is reportedly among the players who could leave.

While clubs such as Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Lazio remain interested, Inter are reluctant to strengthen domestic rivals.

That makes a move abroad — particularly to the Premier League — a more realistic outcome.

Nottingham Forest could therefore re-enter negotiations if they avoid relegation this season.

Vítor Pereira’s side currently sit 17th in the Premier League, level on points with West Ham United in 18th place.

Agent connection could help Forest

Frattesi is represented by GR Sports, the agency led by Italian agent Giuseppe Riso.

The agency has strong links to several Premier League players, including Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Nottingham Forest have also worked with Riso before, signing Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli during the last transfer window.

That existing relationship could help facilitate negotiations if Forest decide to pursue Frattesi again.

Potential transfer fee revealed

Inter Milan currently value Frattesi at around €30m, though the price could drop slightly depending on his role during the remainder of the season.

The midfielder’s contract runs until 2028, while Transfermarkt currently values him at €28m.

If his limited playing time continues, Inter may be more open to selling the player during the summer window.

What’s Next

For Frattesi, a move away from the San Siro may represent the best opportunity to regain regular first-team football.
