Nicolas Jackson eyes strong finish to Chelsea season after injury comeback

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is working hard to rediscover his best form after a hamstring injury kept him out for two months. Once among the Premier League’s top scorers earlier in the season, Jackson is now focused on returning to full fitness and helping Chelsea secure European qualification.

The 23-year-old was one of Chelsea’s standout performers in the first half of the campaign, netting nine Premier League goals by mid-December. His contributions played a major role in pushing the Blues up to second in the table at that time.

However, a hamstring injury sidelined Jackson for several crucial weeks. Since returning earlier this month against Tottenham, he has been easing back into the squad — showing flashes of his direct running, pressing, and physical presence.

“It’s not easy to come back from injury, so right now I am trying to,” said Jackson. “I’m trying to get back to my level, trying to push, because we have important games and I need to be at my best.”

Jackson’s confidence was recently boosted when Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca referred to him as the club’s ‘perfect number nine.’

“I saw that,” Jackson said with a smile. “I just do my work. If the coach believes in me, I’m happy. That makes me want to fight for him, fight for the team, and fight for the club.”

The Senegalese striker added that he knows his capabilities and is committed to delivering at the highest level in the season’s final stretch.

Fulham Challenge and Champions League Hopes
Chelsea’s run-in includes six league matches, with a tough London derby against Fulham next. The Cottagers claimed a Boxing Day win over the Blues at Stamford Bridge, and Jackson is determined to set the record straight.

“That was a painful one, because we never want to lose London derbies,” Jackson said. “We have to forget about that, come back and get the three points. Every game in the Premier League is not easy. We know it.”

He emphasized the team’s belief in qualifying for the Champions League, noting their consistent position in the top half of the table despite setbacks.

“We believe because we have been there all season,” he stated. “If we win all our games, we’ll finish in the top four. We need to focus, fight for the coach, and fight for each other.”

There’s also the opportunity to make European history by winning the Conference League — a trophy that would complete Chelsea’s collection of UEFA competitions.

“If we win the Conference League, we’re the first club to win all European trophies. That’s a good achievement. We’ll try to finish top four, win the Conference, and go to the Club World Cup.”

For now, all eyes are on Fulham as Chelsea look to keep their top-four dreams alive.
