Joao Pedro and Liam Delap’s arrivals have reshaped Chelsea’s attack — and left Nicolas Jackson considering his future. Now third in the striker pecking order, the Senegal international is attracting growing interest across the Premier League, with Manchester United monitoring the situation.
According to multiple sources including Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea could sanction Jackson’s departure this summer if the right offer arrives. While a move to AC Milan has collapsed due to financial disagreements, domestic options remain firmly on the table.

Chelsea’s Striker Shake-Up Leaves Jackson Squeezed
The club’s double swoop for Joao Pedro and Liam Delap has sent a clear message: Chelsea’s striker hierarchy is shifting. Jackson, who led the line last season and finished with 17 goals in all competitions, now finds himself behind both summer signings in the internal pecking order.
Chelsea’s preference appears to be retaining a mix of physicality and pressing energy up top — traits Delap and Pedro both bring. That has made Jackson, despite his output, a more disposable asset as Enzo Maresca prepares his first full campaign.
Manchester United Among Premier League Suitors
While no formal bid has been launched, Manchester United are reportedly one of several English clubs exploring a move. United’s long-standing search for a forward who can complement Rasmus Højlund continues, and Jackson’s Premier League experience makes him a logical candidate.
Other interested Premier League clubs remain unnamed for now, but Romano suggests that “initial approaches” have been made.
Why Chelsea Might Sell Now
Jackson joined for £32m from Villarreal just last summer, and his value has likely risen after a promising debut campaign. A sale now could generate profit and ease Chelsea’s bloated wage bill — especially with UEFA’s FFP and the Premier League’s PSR rules biting down.
2024/25 Striker Comparison – Chelsea
Player | Goals | Minutes per Goal | Shot Accuracy |
---|---|---|---|

Joao Pedro | 19 | 141 | 61% |
Liam Delap | 14 | 174 | 47% |
Analyst Verdict
Jackson may have the raw tools to thrive, but Chelsea’s tactical pivot under Maresca means technical versatility is now the premium. If Jackson wants to be a No.9 week in, week out — a move may be his only option. And if United see him as a rotational fit, expect a formal approach soon.

I would love to see him stay, but in Delap we have a similar player and Delap has a way better first touch than Jackson, but sometimes Jacksons dribbling and his passing has been amazing. I'll miss him because he gave always everything when playing for us. His pressing is on point - only his first touch and the chances he has missed. but we have to move on because he cost us valuable points during the season.
