Newcastle United 2025 Transfers: Guimaraes Pushes for Reinforcements Ahead of Champions League Decider
Newcastle United 2025 transfers are expected to headline the Premier League summer window, and captain Bruno Guimaraes has made it clear what he expects. As the Magpies close in on Champions League qualification, Guimaraes has publicly urged the club to invest in experienced players to avoid a repeat of last season’s injury-hit campaign.
Newcastle must beat Everton at St James’ Park on the final day to secure their return to Europe's top competition. With Chelsea and Nottingham Forest battling for the final top-five spot elsewhere, a win would likely be enough to seal the deal.
With Paul Mitchell now in place as sporting director and a £150 million transfer war chest reportedly available, the club is preparing for two different scenarios: one if they reach the Champions League, and another if they fall to Europa or Conference League level.
Bruno Guimaraes on Newcastle’s Transfer Plans
“Last season, we had 12, 13 players injured. That cost us the Champions League, in my opinion… We need to add more experienced players.” — Bruno Guimaraes
Guimaraes, who joined from Lyon in 2022 and became club captain this season, insists depth is key to competing across all fronts. He remains “very excited” about the club’s future and wants to be a central part of it.
Transfer Strategy Based on European Outcome
Qualification | Transfer Approach |
---|---|
Champions League | Experienced, proven players targeted |
Europa/Conference League | Younger, long-term prospects prioritized |

with or w/o CL I dont think Newcastle has that much money to spend? Where do they get that much from? They had to sell last season Minteh and Anderson due to PSR lol.
