Nottingham Forest have been urged to resolve Morgan Gibbs-White’s future swiftly, with Tottenham Hotspur still keen and tensions rising behind the scenes.
The 25-year-old England international was expected to join Spurs last week after they activated his £60 million release clause. However, Forest reportedly deemed the approach “illegal,” halting progress on what seemed to be a done deal.
Despite the fallout, Spurs are still in the race — and a new bid of £65m is reportedly being prepared. With Forest heading to Portugal on Monday for their pre-season camp, pressure is mounting for a conclusion.
Why Gibbs-White’s Future Needs Settling — Fast
Former Spurs scout Bryan King has urged both clubs to end the uncertainty.
“It has to be sorted soon. Spurs will be flying somewhere as well — and Nuno needs to know who’s in his plans.” — Bryan King to Tottenham News
Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo is believed to want a clear view of his squad before pre-season fixtures abroad begin. Gibbs-White has reportedly asked for clarity before the camp starts.
Spurs Want Gibbs-White — But Forest Won’t Be Rushed
Tottenham see Gibbs-White as a key target, with manager Thomas Frank eager to reshape the midfield. But Forest are standing firm, especially given the disruption the saga is causing.
Gibbs-White, who joined Forest in 2022 from Wolves, has two years left on his current deal. Talks over a renewal have stalled, with suggestions the midfielder is reluctant to commit long-term amid Premier League interest.
Forest Fans Show Support — But for How Long?
Gibbs-White played the first half of Forest’s 0-0 draw with Monaco on Saturday, held at Chesterfield’s SMH Group Stadium. The midfielder received a warm ovation and responded with a heart gesture to the fans.
Teammate Ola Aina addressed the situation post-match:
“He’s a professional. Whatever’s going on is up to him. But he’s been here training and doing his job.”

Analyst Verdict
Gibbs-White’s value lies not just in goals and assists, but in his engine, creativity, and off-the-ball work. He’s the kind of player that Thomas Frank builds a squad around — but Forest are right to demand full value.

Spurs would have triggered or pushed this transfer if they knew they weren’t wrong on the approach.

I dont see this transfer happening actually, this looks like the transfer saga Chelsea had with Crystal Palace for Olise.. Unless if NFFC wants 65M and Spurs pays that amount...
