Liverpool have officially confirmed that star forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract, keeping him at Anfield until the summer of 2027. The announcement ends months of speculation surrounding the Egyptian’s future, as fans feared this season could be his last in a red shirt.
Now, under new manager Arne Slot, Salah is set to continue leading the line for at least two more years — a major boost for the club as they continue their pursuit of silverware.
Salah commits to Liverpool beyond 2025
Salah, 32, has enjoyed a legendary career at Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in 2017. In that time, he has scored 243 goals in 394 appearances, making him one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
With his previous deal set to expire this summer, questions had been mounting throughout the season. But Liverpool have now broken from club policy by offering a new long-term deal to a player over 30 — a sign of just how important Salah remains to their plans.
The new deal is reportedly worth £350,000 per week, tying him down through his 10th year at the club.
Arne Slot: "We are all very happy"
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against West Ham, head coach Arne Slot expressed his joy over Salah's extension.
“We’re all happy. Mo has shown his value to the team and the club for many years now. The players and fans are delighted that he’s staying for two more years.”
Slot also noted that while fans may have been unsure, he was confident the deal was moving in the right direction. “Maybe it was a surprise to the supporters, but I had a feeling throughout the season that this would be the outcome.”
Praise for Liverpool’s sporting director
Slot was also quick to highlight the role of Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s new sporting director, in finalizing the deal.
“Credit goes to Richard. Securing Salah wasn’t easy — as a free agent he would’ve had options anywhere in the world. The fact that he’s staying is a huge compliment to the club’s vision.”
What about Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold?
Attention now turns to two more key players whose contracts expire soon — Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
While reports suggest Van Dijk is close to agreeing terms, Slot refused to offer details, saying: “We talk about contracts when they’re signed. Mo’s is signed, so we’re talking about it. As for the others, we’ll wait.”
He did, however, praise Van Dijk’s leadership and performances, hinting at the Dutch defender’s continued importance moving forward. “Virgil has been massive for us this season. Hopefully, he follows in Mo’s footsteps.”
Salah: “This is home”
Following the announcement, Mohamed Salah shared his thoughts with Liverpool’s official website, explaining why he chose to stay. “We’ve built a great team, and I believe we can win more trophies together. I’ve had my best years here. My family feels at home, and we love the city and the club.”
He added: “Playing at Anfield is always special. The atmosphere, the fans, the anthem — it’s something you don’t experience anywhere else.” Salah also had a message for the supporters:
“I want to say thank you. I’m very happy to continue here. Keep supporting us — we’ll give everything to win more in the future.”

King Mo Salah! Van Dijk next, now it doesn’t matter actually what Trent does.
