Bayern Munich ready Michael Olise contract talks after sensational start to season

Bayern Munich are preparing to discuss a new contract with Michael Olise following the Frenchman's spectacular start to the season.

Olise has established himself as one of Bayern's most important attacking players and has started the new campaign with eight goals and four assists from just seven matches.

Despite the 24-year-old already being contracted until 2029, Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the club will eventually need to sit down with the winger and present him with an improved offer.

Olise's existing contract means Bayern are under no immediate pressure, but his performances have significantly increased his importance within the squad.

Rummenigge believes the French international's status should eventually be reflected in his terms.

“Olise is under contract until 2029,” Rummenigge told AZ. “At some point, the club will have to sit down with him and present a suitable offer.”

He then offered a succinct assessment of why Bayern are so keen to retain him.

“He is exceptional in his position.”

Those comments make Bayern's intentions clear even if formal negotiations have yet to begin.

Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 and has developed into a major attacking weapon in Germany.

His start to this season has been particularly impressive, producing 12 direct goal contributions in only seven appearances.

Across his Bayern career, Olise has now registered 50 goals and 58 assists from 114 appearances.

He has also accumulated significant silverware during his time in Munich, winning two Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups and the DFB-Pokal.

Such performances have elevated his standing considerably since his arrival from the Premier League and explain why Bayern are already considering another long-term commitment.

There is no immediate contractual danger for Bayern given Olise still has almost three years remaining on his existing agreement.

However, an extension would allow the Bundesliga champions to reward his development while strengthening their position over one of their most valuable players.

Olise is now entering his prime years and has become central to Bayern's attacking plans. Agreeing improved terms would therefore represent both a reward for his performances and protection of a major sporting asset.

Bayern are expected to approach Olise's representatives about improved terms, although there is currently no suggestion that negotiations have reached an advanced stage.

With his existing contract providing Bayern with security, the club can approach discussions from a strong position. The objective appears clear: reward Olise's emergence as one of their leading players and ensure his long-term future remains in Munich.
