Michael Kayode transfer hint as agent opens door to Tottenham or Newcastle move

Michael Kayode transfer talk has intensified after the Brentford defender’s representative suggested the Italy youth international is preparing for a “third step” in his career.

Tottenham and Newcastle United were both linked with Kayode during the January window, with reports in Italy claiming Brentford would only consider a significant offer. Manchester City, Juventus and Inter were also mentioned, although no formal bids materialised.

Now, comments from within the player’s camp have added fresh intrigue.

Andrea Ritorni, part of the team at Vigo Global, spoke about Kayode’s development and future ambitions.

“The relationship with the manager is good,” he said when discussing his progress under Brentford’s staff.

But it was his reference to a “third step” that caught attention.

“With Fiorentina, he took the first step, and now at Brentford, it’s a second phase. We’re aiming to reach the third step, where he’ll be ready for big-time football.”

That phrasing strongly implies a move to a larger European club could be on the horizon.

Ritorni also connected that potential progression with international ambitions.

“With enormous respect to Fiorentina and Brentford, the third step would be Kayode’s arrival at a top club. At that point, there would also be the Italian national team.”

Kayode has established himself as a reliable Premier League defender. Known for his long throws and ball-carrying ability, he has also demonstrated positional versatility, operating at right-back, centre-back and occasionally on the left.

Brentford showed patience after early injury setbacks following his arrival from Fiorentina. That investment is now paying off.

From a recruitment perspective, Tottenham and Newcastle both profile as clubs seeking athletic, high-upside defenders capable of adapting to multiple roles.

However, there has been no indication of Brentford’s exact valuation. Given his age, Premier League adaptation and European experience in Florence, the asking price is likely rising.

It remains too early to conclude that a move is imminent. Brentford are under no immediate pressure to sell and may view Kayode as a core asset.
