Michael Kayode’s rise at Brentford has sparked talk of a potential return to Juventus after an impressive Italy debut.

The 22-year-old scored as Italy beat Türkiye 4-1 on Monday, adding another milestone to his rapid development since moving to England.

Kayode initially arrived from Fiorentina on loan before Brentford made the transfer permanent for €17.5m in July. His Premier League performances have since established him as one of the division’s emerging right-backs.

Now his former club Juventus are being mentioned as a possible future destination.

Marchisio raises prospect of Juventus return

Kayode spent time in Juventus’ academy before leaving for Gozzano in 2020, and his development since then has inevitably raised questions over why the Turin club allowed him to go.

Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio was asked about that decision by Gazzetta dello Sport and suggested Kayode could eventually return.

“Kayode was rejected by Juve as a child? You can reach the top in different ways; it happens,” Marchisio said.

“Maybe he’ll come back to Juve as a star.”

That comment is not confirmation that Juventus are currently trying to sign Kayode, but reports in Italy are beginning to connect him with the club.

TuttoJuve notes that Juventus are looking for a full-back and claims it “cannot be ruled out” that Kayode could emerge as a primary target.

Brentford hold strong position

Any serious Juventus interest would leave Brentford in a strong negotiating position.

Kayode is contracted until 2032, meaning there is no immediate contractual pressure to sell him.

He is currently valued at around €40m by Transfermarkt, although that is an estimated market value rather than a reported Brentford asking price.

His growing reputation in the Premier League and breakthrough with Italy could strengthen Brentford’s position further if Juventus or another major European club eventually makes an approach.

For now, the Juventus link remains speculative rather than an active transfer pursuit.

Key Points

  • Michael Kayode scored on his Italy debut in Monday’s 4-1 victory over Türkiye.
  • The 22-year-old joined Brentford permanently for €17.5m after initially arriving on loan.
  • Claudio Marchisio has suggested Kayode could one day return to former club Juventus “as a star”.
  • Juventus reportedly want a full-back, but there is no confirmed approach or negotiation for Kayode.
  • Brentford have Kayode under contract until 2032, putting them in a strong position over his future.

What’s Next

Kayode’s immediate focus remains Brentford, where his performances have now helped him break into the Italian national team.

Juventus’ search for a full-back makes the connection worth monitoring, particularly given Kayode’s history with the club, but there is currently a clear distinction between speculation and concrete interest.

If Juventus do eventually make Kayode a serious target, Brentford’s long-term contract means the Serie A club are unlikely to find a return straightforward or cheap.
