Mateus Mane emphasises hard work after Wolves breakthrough month

Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Mateus Mane has insisted he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground after being voted Wolves’ SUD Player of the Month for December following a rapid rise into senior football.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a standout end to 2025, bursting onto the Premier League scene with his first top-flight assist against Arsenal at the Emirates before producing eye-catching performances against Liverpool and Manchester United. Those contributions helped Wolves collect only their third league point of the campaign at the time.

Mane has carried that momentum into January, registering a goal and an assist in the win over West Ham United at Molineux before scoring his second senior goal in the draw away at Everton.

Winning his first Player of the Month award has been a milestone for Mane, but the teenager is clear that it does not alter his mindset.

He said it felt really good to receive the award and be recognised by the fans, describing it as his first-ever Player of the Month honour. Mane added that the team have worked hard throughout the month, but stressed that Wolves must keep pushing, explaining that while the recognition feels good, the focus remains on continuing the work until the end of the season.
