Marcus Rashford transfer update: Aston Villa deal, Man United’s plan, and Ruben Amorim’s verdict

Manchester United's stance on Marcus Rashford's future has emerged, which may affect his chances of staying at Aston Villa beyond this season.

Villa signed Rashford on loan from United for the remainder of the campaign. The move also includes an option to buy, which is thought to be for a fee of around £40million.

Rashford has made nine appearances for Villa so far during his loan move, with 4 assists but he has yet to score his first goal. The 27-year-old was rewarded for his form in the claret and blue by earning a call-up to the England national team squad by new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Even though Rashford still has a couple of months left on his loan deal with Villa, an update has emerged on his future. The update concerns what may happen after the deal at Villa Park runs out and he returns to Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Star, Man United manager Ruben Amorim has no plans to welcome Rashford back into the first-team squad for next season. As a result, it has been claimed that the Red Devils will try and sell the forward when the transfer window opens in the summer, as they look to sign a new striker of their own.

Villa still have the option to make the move permanent for £40million at the end of the season. It remains to be seen if Unai Emery and Co. will choose to activate that option or reassess their options at the end of the season.

It's not just Rashford that Villa have on their books on loan for the rest of the season. Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi were also signed by Villa on temporary deals during the January transfer window, although neither of the duo have the option to make the moves permanent in the summer.

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim was asked why he allowed Rashford to swap Old Trafford for Villa Park last month.

"What I say is that I couldn’t [get] Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it," Amorim told reporters last month. "And sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach and the same player with another coach is different.

"I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player."
