Marcos Senesi asking for double wages amid Juventus and Napoli interest

Marcos Senesi is attracting serious interest ahead of the summer window, but the Bournemouth defender’s wage demands are already shaping the battle for his signature.

The 28-year-old centre-back is reportedly asking for more than double his current salary as clubs across Europe explore a potential free transfer.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Vitale, Napoli have made enquiries about Senesi’s situation but have not submitted a formal offer.

Juventus are currently considered the most advanced suitor, having tracked the Argentine for several weeks. However, negotiations are complicated by the defender’s financial expectations.

Senesi is said to be requesting between €3.5m and €4m per year. Given his free-agent status this summer, he is in a strong negotiating position.

Vitale suggests that while interest remains high, those salary demands are causing hesitation, particularly among Serie A clubs operating within structured wage ceilings.

Senesi has been particularly popular in Italy, with both Napoli and Juventus assessing the feasibility of a deal.

However, interest is not limited to Serie A. Recent reports have linked Manchester United, Everton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Tottenham with the Bournemouth defender.

Having followed Bournemouth’s squad evolution this season, Senesi’s contract situation represents both risk and opportunity. Losing him for free would be a defensive setback, but the club have limited leverage if renewal terms are not agreed.

Formal offers are expected closer to the end of the season once clubs finalise budgets and defensive priorities.

Much will depend on whether Juventus or Napoli are willing to stretch their wage structures, or if a Premier League side moves decisively.
