Marc Guehi is a player to watch in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Newcastle United once again keen to secure his signature. The Crystal Palace defender, who was a top target for the Magpies last year, will enter the final year of his contract in the summer. With Newcastle set to pursue silverware next season, a move for Guehi could be on the cards once again.
Despite an initial failed attempt to sign him, Newcastle’s interest remains strong. Guehi’s position at Palace has become increasingly uncertain, and with a potential move to Newcastle looking more likely, the summer could provide the perfect opportunity for the young defender to move to St. James' Park.
Why a Move to Newcastle Makes Sense for Guehi
In the previous summer transfer window, Newcastle was highly interested in Marc Guehi. However, Crystal Palace’s owner Steve Parish blocked the move, determined to keep the young defender at Selhurst Park. Palace had already lost key players such as Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and Joachim Andersen to Fulham, making it impossible for them to let Guehi leave.
Fast forward to this summer, and Guehi will be in the final year of his contract. Newcastle’s interest in the 24-year-old England international has never waned, and with the club’s newfound status as a top-four contender, this could be the perfect time for Guehi to make the move to a Champions League-bound team.
“Marc is thinking what is best for his personal career and this is what we have to accept. His future is in his hands.” — Oliver Glasner

He will be gone this summer. He isn’t extending either so. Such a shame for Palace, because you want to be building around your good players but unfortunately you can’t due many different circumstances.
