Manchester United monitoring Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos for summer transfer

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos ahead of the summer transfer window, with reports from Brazil suggesting the youngster could attract interest despite his growing role at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has begun to establish himself in Chelsea’s midfield setup this season, but speculation around his long-term future is beginning to emerge.

According to Brazilian outlet NT Vascaínos, Manchester United are currently the club most closely monitoring Santos’ situation.

Juventus are also said to be following the midfielder’s progress, raising the possibility of a wider European battle if Chelsea become open to offers.

The report claims Santos is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge but is not considered completely untouchable if a strong bid arrives during the next transfer window.

Chelsea would reportedly value the midfielder at around €40m, based on current market estimates.

Santos’ growing importance at Chelsea makes the transfer speculation particularly notable.

Under head coach Liam Rosenior, the Brazilian has started receiving more consistent minutes and has begun to integrate into the club’s midfield structure.

Rosenior previously worked with the midfielder during a successful spell at RC Strasbourg, where Santos impressed during his loan period.

That existing relationship has helped the player adapt to a deeper midfield role since returning to Chelsea.

From Manchester United’s perspective, Santos represents a potential long-term midfield option.

With Casemiro expected to depart Old Trafford in the near future, the club may look to refresh their midfield with younger players capable of developing into key starters.

Santos is widely regarded as one of Brazil’s most promising midfielders of his generation and already has valuable experience in European football.

His ability to operate as both a defensive midfielder and box-to-box presence could make him an attractive option for clubs looking to rebuild their midfield structure.

A potential transfer would also have financial consequences in Brazil.

Santos developed through the academy at Vasco da Gama, meaning the Brazilian club would be entitled to a solidarity payment if he is sold.

Under FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, Vasco would receive around 2.5% of any transfer fee. A deal worth approximately €40m could therefore generate a useful financial boost for the club.

At this stage, the situation appears to be limited to scouting and monitoring rather than active negotiations.

Chelsea remain in control of Santos’ future and may prefer to continue developing the midfielder within their squad.

However, if interest from clubs such as Manchester United or Juventus intensifies during the summer window, the Brazilian could become one of the more intriguing midfield names on the market.
