Erling Haaland is set to return for Manchester City as they host Newcastle United in a crucial Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
The striker missed last weekend’s FA Cup win over Salford after picking up a knock against Fulham, but he has now resumed training and is back in contention.
Erling Haaland injury latest
Haaland was left out as a precaution after experiencing discomfort against Fulham. However, Pep Guardiola confirmed this week that the Norwegian has trained and is available for selection.
His return is a major boost for City as they continue their push in the title race.
There is also positive news regarding Savinho, who is fit again following a quad injury. Jeremy Doku, though, remains sidelined with a calf issue.
Manchester City team news vs Newcastle
City’s attacking options remain strong even with rotation expected.
Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo, Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden are all available to support Haaland in the final third.
In defence, Max Alleyne is a doubt after being forced off against Salford. Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic remain long-term absentees.
Abdukodir Khusanov completed 90 minutes in the FA Cup, which could allow Matheus Nunes to start at right-back. Rodri is expected to feature more prominently after his recent cameo, while Nico O’Reilly should continue in midfield after scoring against Fulham.
