Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic was left furious after rival supporters targeted his family during a heated derby in Germany.
According to Morgen Post, the teenager was incensed by behaviour from St Pauli fans, who directed offensive chants and banners towards his brother during the clash — pushing the Tottenham loanee well beyond breaking point.
Season going right — except for one painful issue
On the pitch, things have been close to perfect for Vuskovic since joining Hamburger SV on loan last summer. The young centre-back quickly nailed down a starting role, earned plaudits for his performances and has become a fan favourite in Hamburg.
Off the pitch, however, one situation continues to hang over him.
Vuskovic was hoping to play alongside his brother Mario, a factor that played a role in his move to Germany. That reunion has not been possible, with Mario currently serving a drugs ban that runs until November 2026. He is training in Croatia while working towards a return later this year.
Derby turns ugly
That family situation was cruelly exploited during the derby against St Pauli. Rival supporters reportedly aimed chants, gestures and banners directly at Mario — including one banner where the letter “I” in his name was replaced with a syringe.
The provocation did not go unnoticed.
Eyewitnesses claim Vuskovic spat at a St Pauli logo after the match and became involved in a confrontation involving defender Karol Mets and assistant coach Peter Nemeth.
“Very disrespectful”
Speaking after the game, Vuskovic made no attempt to hide his anger.
“It’s very disrespectful to attack my family and my brother,” he said.
“I have nothing good to say about the fans.”
The comments underline just how personal the incident felt for the Tottenham youngster, who has largely kept his head down and focused on football since arriving in Germany.
