Leeds United are reportedly delaying Lucas Perri's proposed move to Torino despite the Serie A club improving its offer for the goalkeeper.

Torino have been working on a deal for the 28-year-old for several weeks and already have an agreement with Perri, who is keen to secure regular first-team football.

A move had appeared to be progressing towards a medical, but continued delays and interest from Marseille have created fresh uncertainty.

Torino raise Lucas Perri offer

According to TuttoSport, Torino remain confident Perri wants to join them but are becoming increasingly cautious about Leeds' position.

The Italian club initially proposed a €1m loan fee with a €12m option to buy. They have now increased the potential permanent fee to €14m, but Leeds have still not approved the transfer.

The report suggests Torino believe Leeds could be deliberately slowing negotiations while waiting to see whether a more attractive proposal arrives.

Marseille are also interested in Perri, although their approach so far has reportedly only involved a straight loan.

That could explain why Leeds are prepared to wait rather than immediately accepting Torino's improved terms.

Leeds looking for best Perri deal

Leeds paid around €16m to sign Perri from Lyon last summer, giving them an obvious financial incentive to maximise his value.

Although the Brazilian did not feature regularly during the second half of last season, his reputation remains strong enough to attract interest from clubs in Italy and France.

Torino's latest proposal would still leave the potential transfer value below the fee Leeds reportedly paid for him.

Perri's preference could nevertheless become important. The goalkeeper has already indicated his willingness to join Torino, and the Italian club remain confident that agreement with the player gives them an advantage.

For now, the obstacle remains negotiations with Leeds rather than personal terms.

Key Points

  • Torino are continuing negotiations with Leeds United for Lucas Perri.
  • The Serie A club have increased their potential purchase offer from €12m to €14m.
  • Leeds are reportedly delaying the deal while waiting for potentially better proposals.
  • Marseille are also interested, but have so far offered only a straight loan.
  • Perri has already indicated that he wants to join Torino.

What's Next?

Torino must decide whether their improved proposal is enough to persuade Leeds or whether another move will be required.

Marseille's interest could also influence negotiations if the French club return with stronger terms. Perri, meanwhile, remains willing to join Torino as the clubs attempt to resolve his future before the transfer window closes.
