Keith Hackett has claimed the Premier League could be tempted to implement points deductions for manager's behaviour following Arne Slot's blast of Michael Oliver.
Liverpool head coach Slot fumed after Oliver didn't disallow James Tarkowski's 98th minute equaliser against Everton last month. The Dutchman felt that Beto pushed Ibrahima Konate in the build-up to Tarkowski slamming the ball home to earn a 2-2 draw in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Slot was shown a red card after the final whistle for confronting Oliver, eventually being handed a two-match touchline ban which will be completed during Sunday's fixture against Southampton. It's alleged that Slot, while shaking Oliver's hand, said: "If we don't win the league, I'll [expletive] blame you."
"It happened a lot and the emotions got the better of me," Slot said of his behaviour. "If I could do it differently, If I look back at it, I would love to do it differently. I would do it (differently) next time as well."
Slot isn't the only Premier League manager to be involved in fractious altercation with officials this season. Brighton's Fabian Hurzeler and Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo were both sent off when they met in September, and Hackett has warned that more run-ins could prompt new rules.
"I would like to see referees at the final whistle moving towards the tunnel rather than standing in the middle looking for handshakes and any complimentary comments," ex-Premier League referee Hackett told Football Insider.
