Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez is growing stronger — but a deal hinges on the departure of either Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Reds are closely monitoring the 20-year-old left-back, who’s been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season. However, squad balance is key, and a move for Kerkez will only happen if space opens up in the current roster.

“Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth is a target,” Ornstein told NBC Sports. “But that would require one of Robertson or Tsimikas to depart.”

While Andy Robertson remains an Anfield icon, this season hasn’t been his best. Although he's still delivering experience and leadership, Liverpool’s staff have reportedly begun considering the long-term future in that position.

Robertson’s contract runs until 2026, and recent reports claim he’d prefer to stay and possibly extend short-term.

Kostas Tsimikas, on the other hand, has seen limited game time. With just seven Premier League starts in 2024/25, his future appears far less certain — and he’s widely seen as the more likely player to be moved on.

Why Milos Kerkez?

Kerkez has quietly developed into one of the most promising young full-backs in England. His energy, consistency, and attacking output have drawn attention from top clubs, with Liverpool reportedly willing to bid around £40 million for his services.

Still only 20, the Hungarian international fits the club’s transfer model: high ceiling, high work rate, and Premier League-proven.

Stat Breakdown – 2024/25 Season Comparison

Below is a comparison of Milos Kerkez’s key performance metrics this season against Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

Metric Milos Kerkez Andy Robertson Kostas Tsimikas
Appearances 33 30 15
Goals 2 0 0
Assists 5 0 1
Crosses per 90 3.57 5.33 6.56
Tackles Won per 90 0.81 0.89 2.34
Interceptions per 90 1.18 0.81 1.25
Clearances per 90 3.11 2.03 2.5

Liverpool’s interest in Milos Kerkez shows they’re planning ahead, but they’ll need to make space before committing to a transfer. With Robertson's desire to stay and Tsimikas’ lack of minutes, the decision may already be made internally.

As Arne Slot’s project continues to take shape, the summer transfer window promises to reveal even more about Liverpool’s long-term strategy.

Will Kerkez be the right fit for the left back position for Liverpool?
