Leeds United make Martin Baturina enquiry as Como set €22–25m valuation

Leeds United have made fresh enquiries for Martin Baturina, with the midfielder’s future at Como once again under scrutiny ahead of the January window.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Leeds are among the clubs to have contacted Como to explore the conditions of a potential deal for the 22-year-old, who is finding his first season in Serie A more challenging than expected.

Como invested heavily in Baturina last summer, paying around €18m to secure his signature. However, the Croatian has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter, largely due to the form of Nico Paz, who has occupied the key creative role.

While Baturina has made the most of his limited opportunities, he has yet to properly break into the first XI. That situation has inevitably led to questions over whether a temporary or permanent exit could be considered if regular minutes remain elusive.

In Croatia, Baturina continues to be viewed as a long-term successor to Luka Modric, adding further intrigue to his development path.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Leeds have been particularly active in making enquiries about Baturina’s situation. At this stage, it remains unclear whether Elland Road officials are considering a loan move or a permanent transfer.

Should Leeds opt to pursue a full deal, Como are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of €22–25m, reflecting both their initial investment and belief in the player’s long-term potential.

For now, there has been no formal offer. Leeds are understood to be assessing whether a move is viable before deciding whether to progress discussions.

This is not the first time Leeds have been linked with Baturina. Reports dating back to August 2024 named the Yorkshire club as admirers, with suggestions at the time that they were willing to go as high as €30m.

That earlier interest was widely viewed as a pressure tactic aimed at influencing negotiations elsewhere, particularly involving Fiorentina. However, Leeds’ name has continued to resurface, including in reports last month.

At that point, it was suggested a January move would be unlikely, as Como were fully committed to backing Baturina through his adaptation period. That stance may still hold, which could explain why Leeds’ current approach has been limited to enquiries rather than a concrete bid.

Much now depends on Leeds’ internal assessment and Como’s willingness to entertain offers. If Baturina pushes for more playing time, the situation could evolve quickly. For now, Leeds appear content to monitor developments before committing to a move.
