However, Vargas is far from expendable. The 26-year-old has been a key attacking outlet this season, offering pace, direct dribbling and end product from wide areas. Losing him midway through the campaign would inevitably weaken Sevilla’s attacking depth — something the Spanish side must weigh carefully against their financial realities.

Although some reports suggest Sevilla could hold out for even more, the size of Leeds’ proposed offer already places serious pressure on the La Liga club to consider cashing in.
