Kieran McKenna Brentford manager replacement 2025 – Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has emerged as a serious contender to replace Thomas Frank at Brentford, talkSPORT reports, as the Danish coach edges closer to taking over at Tottenham Hotspur.
Frank has become the standout candidate for Spurs following Ange Postecoglou's sacking, and Brentford are now laying the groundwork for a new era should their legendary manager depart.
Despite Ipswich’s relegation this season, McKenna remains one of the most highly regarded young managers in English football.
Brentford Prepare for Post-Frank Era
Thomas Frank’s reign at Brentford has been the most successful in the club’s history, lifting the Bees from Championship obscurity to Premier League stability. But with Spurs circling, Brentford are acting fast.
McKenna, still just 39, fits the club’s forward-thinking ethos. His attacking style, tactical versatility, and proven ability to develop talent make him a natural fit should Brentford need a new head coach.
“McKenna’s rise from League One to the Premier League has caught attention across the top flight — his Ipswich side were fearless and fun to watch.” — talkSPORT insider
Ipswich’s Relegation Doesn’t Dent McKenna’s Reputation
While Ipswich finished 19th in their return to the Premier League, McKenna’s stock remains strong. His achievement of back-to-back promotions from League One to the top tier in just two seasons was remarkable.
Chelsea and Brighton both considered him last summer, but he stayed loyal to Ipswich, signing a four-year deal. That contract now becomes a potential stumbling block — Brentford would need to pay significant compensation.

Ipswich Town | 2021–2025 | Back-to-back promotions, PL return after 20+ years |

Brentford is very stable as a club would be a good fit for McKenna. But does he want to go? I still think that despite playing in the Championship next season that Ipswich is a bigger club.
