Keyrol Figueroa agent addresses Porto talks as Liverpool plan exit

Liverpool could be set for late January movement involving Keyrol Figueroa, with the forward’s agent now addressing reports of talks as the clock ticks down towards Monday’s transfer deadline.

FC Porto have emerged as a potential destination for the 19-year-old, with Portuguese media reporting discussions over a loan move that would give the Liverpool youngster regular senior minutes during the second half of the season.

Figueroa joined Liverpool from FC Dallas in 2019 and has progressed through the club’s youth ranks, but he is yet to make his competitive first-team debut. His only senior involvement so far came in October, when Arne Slot named him on the bench for Liverpool’s EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

Porto view the forward as a player who could benefit from immediate exposure at senior level. Earlier reports suggested negotiations were already under way, with the Portuguese side keen to secure him on loan before the winter window closes.

The situation gained traction earlier this month when Figueroa changed representation, appointing Federico Pastorello as his new agent.

Journalist Álvaro De La Rocha has since added a new dimension to the story, claiming that Figueroa’s agent has denied being in “active negotiations” with Porto.

The wording is notable. While rejecting the idea of advanced talks, it does not rule out discussions entirely, and may reflect positioning rather than a firm dismissal of interest.

Earlier reporting indicated that Figueroa’s mother, Sandra Norales, alongside Pastorello, has been heavily involved in exploring options for the player, with Porto identified as a viable pathway.

Figueroa’s contract at Anfield is due to expire at the end of the season, a factor central to Liverpool’s thinking. Rather than risk losing the forward for nothing, the club are keen to secure his long-term future first.

According to De La Rocha, Liverpool are already preparing a renewal offer. The intention is to extend Figueroa’s contract and then sanction a loan move before Monday’s deadline, allowing him to gain experience while protecting the club’s asset.

From Liverpool’s perspective, that structure would explain why external discussions continue even as public denials are issued.

Porto’s immediate focus remains on their Europa League fixture against Rangers, with qualification implications still in play. The Portuguese side currently sit ninth in the table, and a win would see them finish inside the top eight, potentially strengthening their hand in the market.

That competitive context may influence the urgency of any deal, particularly if Porto believe Figueroa could contribute during the decisive phase of the season.

Liverpool are expected to prioritise contract talks in the coming days, with a renewal seen as a prerequisite to any loan exit. Should that be agreed, a temporary move abroad remains a strong possibility before the window shuts. Much will depend on whether Porto, or another interested club, can move quickly enough once the contractual side is resolved.
