Kayode €30m valuation sparks Tottenham and Newcastle interest

Brentford’s reported €30m valuation of Michael Kayode has raised eyebrows in Italy, with suggestions Tottenham and Newcastle United could land the defender for a figure that appears modest in the current Premier League market.

Interest in the 21-year-old first emerged in January, when Italian media linked both Spurs and Newcastle with the right-back. Manchester City were also mentioned at the time, shortly after Kayode’s agent hinted that a significant move away from Brentford could materialise if performances continued at their current level.

According to Calciomercato, Brentford’s asking price now stands at €30m. That represents a sharp rise from his initial loan arrival from Fiorentina last January, a move that was later made permanent despite injury interruptions.

Italy head coach Rino Gattuso is reportedly monitoring the situation closely, with a senior international call-up under consideration. Inter Milan are also said to view Kayode as a potential successor to Denzel Dumfries should the Dutchman depart in the summer.

However, the suggestion that Brentford would accept €30m appears optimistic from an Italian perspective. Kayode is under contract until 2030 and has established himself in the Premier League, a market where proven young defenders command premium fees.

Having followed Brentford’s recruitment strategy closely, the club rarely sells core assets without extracting maximum value. A structured deal involving add-ons or performance clauses could raise the overall figure significantly beyond the base valuation.

Tottenham continue to evaluate right-back depth amid recurring fitness concerns, while Newcastle are planning longer-term defensive succession as they balance domestic and European ambitions.

At 21, Kayode fits the recruitment profile both clubs favour: young, technically comfortable, and already adapted to English football. His ability to operate aggressively in transition aligns well with high-intensity systems.

However, it remains unclear whether Brentford would entertain negotiations at €30m without a release clause or external leverage. Italian reports suggesting an initial loan proposal from Inter further underline how far apart expectations may be.

With the summer window approaching, Kayode’s performances in the closing weeks could strengthen Brentford’s negotiating position.

If Tottenham or Newcastle move decisively, the fee is unlikely to remain static. Much may depend on whether multiple bidders emerge.
