Juventus eye Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie in €40m summer plan

Juventus are monitoring Destiny Udogie as a potential summer target, but any move for the Tottenham Hotspur defender would depend on a €40 million departure in Turin.

Reports in Italy suggest the Serie A giants view Udogie as the preferred replacement for Andrea Cambiaso, whose future has come under scrutiny after inconsistent performances this season. Cambiaso has previously attracted interest from Manchester City, and Juventus are said to be open to offers in the region of €40m.

If that valuation is met, Udogie has been described as the “chosen one” to step into the role.

Udogie, 23, has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season despite battling injury setbacks. Under Tottenham’s current structure, he has operated more as a traditional full-back compared to his inverted role during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure, where his technical growth was evident.

Having followed Tottenham’s defensive development over the past year, Udogie’s progression has been clear. His positional awareness and decision-making have improved significantly since his move from Udinese in 2022.

Tottenham signed the Italy international for around €18m and he has since made 86 appearances across competitions. Crucially, his contract runs until 2030, placing Spurs in a strong negotiating position.

Juventus’ pursuit hinges on Cambiaso’s potential sale. Even then, prising Udogie away from north London would not be straightforward.

Tottenham are under no financial pressure to sell, and Udogie’s age and contract length significantly strengthen their stance. Unless the player actively pushes for a return to Italy, Spurs would be expected to demand well above their initial investment.

However, Champions League qualification and project trajectory could influence long-term discussions, particularly if Juventus present a central role in a rebuilding phase.

It remains too early to suggest formal talks are underway. At this stage, interest appears exploratory and dependent on developments elsewhere.

Juventus’ priority is clarifying Cambiaso’s situation before advancing plans. If a €40m transfer materialises, attention could shift quickly toward Udogie.

For Tottenham, much will depend on their own squad planning and Udogie’s fitness over the coming months. A strong finish to the season could strengthen their resolve to retain him.
