Jota Silva Nottingham Forest future is back under the spotlight after reports in Turkey claimed Beşiktaş will not activate their €17m purchase clause this summer.

The Portuguese winger joined the Istanbul club on loan late in the transfer window, with an agreement in place that allowed Beşiktaş to make the move permanent. However, according to Takvim, head coach Sergen Yalçın has been left unconvinced by Silva’s impact.

As a result, the Turkish side are not planning to proceed with a full transfer.

Jota Silva Nottingham Forest return expected

Silva has made 13 appearances in all competitions since arriving in Turkey, but his role has diminished in recent weeks. Nine of his last 11 league outings have come from the bench, limiting his ability to influence matches consistently.

Reports suggest Yalçın is prioritising players who will form the backbone of his squad next season, and Silva is not considered part of that long-term structure.

Given the €17m clause agreed with Nottingham Forest, Beşiktaş would need strong justification to invest at that level. The consensus internally is that the 26-year-old has not delivered performances warranting such a fee.

Uncertainty over next move

Silva’s return to the City Ground would reopen questions about his standing in Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans. Last season, he operated largely as a rotational option, starting only five Premier League matches.

While he provided flashes of quality as a substitute, the role did not offer long-term stability.

Having followed Forest’s squad evolution, competition in wide areas remains intense, and it is unclear whether Silva would be reintegrated or made available for transfer.

A return to Portugal could emerge as a logical pathway. Before moving to England, Silva impressed at Vitória Guimarães, attracting interest from Sporting CP. Previous approaches did not materialise, but circumstances may now differ.

However, much will depend on Nottingham Forest’s valuation and strategic direction this summer.

Key Insights

  • Beşiktaş will not activate the €17m purchase clause
  • Silva has made just 13 appearances on loan
  • Majority of recent outings came from the bench
  • Nottingham Forest face a decision on reintegration or sale
  • Portugal could be a potential destination

What’s Next

Silva is expected to return to Nottingham Forest at the end of the season unless a late shift occurs in Turkey. The coming months will determine whether he is given another opportunity in England or moves permanently elsewhere. Transfer clarity is likely once Forest finalise their squad plans.

Where should Silva look to rebuild momentum next season?
