Background: Farke’s Promotion and Premier League Struggles
Daniel Farke guided Leeds United back to the Premier League after a two-year absence, clinching promotion in a tense Championship play-off. Yet in 52 top-flight games under Farke, the Whites have managed just nine wins against 30 defeats—a record that has fans and pundits questioning his future at Elland Road.
As speculation mounts, veteran coach José Mourinho—currently at Fenerbahçe—has emerged as a leading contender to fill the hot seat, with TalkSPORT hosts Alan Brazil and Sam Ellard adamant he would pick Leeds over a lucrative stint north of the border with Rangers.
Why Mourinho Over Rangers?
While Mourinho publicly expressed interest in managing in Scotland—citing Celtic or Rangers as possible destinations—TalkSPORT’s Alan Brazil believes the Portuguese master tactician would leap at a Premier League return instead.
“You tell me Mourinho would fancy Rangers ahead of Leeds? No chance. He’d want Leeds,” — Alan Brazil, talkSPORT
Co-host Sam Ellard agreed, adding:
“He’d take a way back to the Premier League every day of the week.” — Sam Ellard, talkSPORT
Daniel Farke’s Premier League Record
| Metric | Count |
|---|---|
| Games Managed | 52 |
| Wins | 9 |
| Draws | 13 |
| Losses | 30 |
| Win % | 17 % |
Key Takeaways
- Promotion vs. Performance: Farke achieved promotion but faces scrutiny for a low top-flight win rate.
- Mourinho’s Appeal: A proven champion in England, Mourinho offers immediate pedigree and star power.
- Rangers vs. Leeds: The lure of England’s top tier outweighs a move to Scottish giants for a manager of Mourinho’s stature.
What’s Next at Elland Road?
TalkSPORT reports that Leeds’ owners will formally review the managerial position once the season concludes. They have been impressed by Farke’s tough call to drop goalkeeper Illan Meslier but may opt for the “ruthless” approach seen at clubs like Bournemouth.
Should Leeds stick with Farke for continuity or bring in Mourinho’s big-game experience—what would you decide? Let us know below!

I’ve followed Jose Mourinho since 2004, must admit kinda supported every team he has managed. How am I going to support Leeds, if I’ve supported Man Utd, Chelsea and a little bit of Spurs because of this guy… Leeds is massive and I love Elland Road tbh - idc what people say. I want him back in the PL, but not sure if Leeds fans wants Mourinho as their manager..

Scenes at the Bridge if he's a Leeds manager.
