Jørgen Strand Larsen has delivered a brutally honest reflection on his time at Wolves, describing the period before his move to Crystal Palace as “completely hopeless”.

The Norway international completed a £48 million switch to Selhurst Park on 2 February 2026, ending a difficult spell at Molineux where both individual form and team results had declined sharply.

Jørgen Strand Larsen explains Wolves struggles before Crystal Palace move

Larsen initially impressed after arriving at Wolves on loan from Celta Vigo in July 2024, finishing his debut campaign with 14 goals and five assists. That form convinced the club to make his move permanent in 2025, handing him a long-term contract.

However, this season told a very different story.

Struggling for goals and consistency, Larsen managed just one goal and one assist in 22 league appearances before his departure. Wolves’ overall form also deteriorated, leaving them bottom of the Premier League table and under increasing pressure.

Speaking to VG, the striker did not hide how difficult the situation became.

“It has been six months that have been completely hopeless. It has been very tough mentally, physically and in every way possible.” — Jørgen Strand Larsen

Pressure and lack of progress forced decision

Larsen admitted he had hoped things would improve at Wolves, but ultimately felt he needed to move on to continue his development.

“I didn’t want it to end that way at Wolves, because it’s a fantastic club that I care about. I hoped things would change, but for me it was important to take a step forward.” — Jørgen Strand Larsen

The pressure of a winless run during the first half of the season played a major role in that decision, with expectations rising both internally and externally.

From the last few weeks of Wolves’ campaign, the lack of results had clearly impacted confidence across the squad, making it increasingly difficult for attacking players like Larsen to perform consistently.

Why Crystal Palace move suits Larsen

The switch to Crystal Palace has offered a fresh start, and early signs suggest a better fit both tactically and mentally. Under Oliver Glasner, Larsen has stepped into a system that provides more support in attacking areas.

“Palace suits me very well. It’s a style of play that suits me well. We have players who can put me in good situations, so I think it’s going to be very good.” — Jørgen Strand Larsen

Those early numbers point to a positive adjustment, with Larsen already contributing goals and showing signs of rediscovering his confidence.

Having followed Crystal Palace closely this season, their attacking structure under Glasner has often created clearer chances for central forwards, something that appears to suit Larsen’s strengths.

However, it remains too early to judge the long-term impact of the move, particularly as he continues to adapt to his new surroundings.
