Jonathan Rowe Aston Villa interest grows as Bologna set €40m valuation

Jonathan Rowe's strong second half of the season appears to have pushed him towards the centre of an increasingly competitive transfer race, with Aston Villa reportedly maintaining serious interest as Bologna consider a major summer sale.

According to reports from Italy, Bologna's failure to secure European football next season could force significant decisions, and Rowe now looks among the most valuable assets available.

Aston Villa are already believed to be tracking the winger, while Chelsea, Galatasaray and other clubs are also credited with interest.

Timing may be working in Aston Villa's favour.

Rowe initially experienced a difficult adjustment period after arriving from Marseille last summer, but his influence under Vincenzo Italiano has grown considerably in recent months. His performances in both domestic competition and Europe have reportedly strengthened his standing considerably.

The latest reports suggest Bologna would require offers of around €40 million before entering serious discussions.

For Unai Emery and Villa, that figure is unlikely to be viewed as prohibitive, particularly in the modern Premier League market where proven attacking players frequently command larger fees.

There has been a consistent effort to add players capable of operating across multiple attacking positions rather than relying on specialist wide forwards alone.

Rowe appears to fit that profile.

Bologna's financial model has been built around identifying talent, developing players and eventually selling at the correct moment.

Recent years have delivered strong returns through departures involving Dan Ndoye, Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee, with transfer fees often approaching similar levels.

Rowe now appears positioned within that same category.

Unlike Jhon Lucumi, whose contract situation may reduce Bologna's leverage, Rowe remains protected by a longer agreement running until 2029. That means Bologna can negotiate from a stronger position even if missing European revenues increases pressure.

However, it remains too early to draw firm conclusions. Strong interest and initial valuations do not automatically translate into completed deals, particularly when several clubs enter negotiations simultaneously.

The transfer picture could become clearer once Bologna determine which players are likely to depart this summer. Their failure to secure European football may create a need to balance finances through player sales, but they are unlikely to rush negotiations.

For Villa, much could depend on their own attacking plans and whether competition intensifies from elsewhere in the Premier League.
