Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is closing in on a January exit, with reports in Italy claiming a medical is expected to take place within the next few hours ahead of a move to Fiorentina.

Italian media first outlined Fiorentina’s concrete interest earlier this week. On Wednesday, La Nazione suggested Harrison could travel immediately to complete a loan move, but negotiations dragged on as the two clubs haggled over financial terms.

Journalist Gianluigi Longari reported that Leeds initially wanted a purchase obligation worth around £15m (€17m), while Gianluca Di Marzio added that Harrison’s salary was also a sticking point.

Further reports from Corriere dello Sport stated that Leeds were pushing for a €15–17m option, with Fiorentina holding firm at €10–12m.

Bargaining stance collapses

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the deal is now effectively agreed — and at a figure far below Leeds’ opening demands.

The outlet claims Harrison will join Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy set at just €6m, roughly half of what Leeds initially requested. That outcome suggests the Whites’ early position was primarily a bargaining tactic rather than a reflection of the club’s true valuation.

TMW report that Harrison is expected at Viola Park on Friday to undergo medical tests and finalise contractual details.

Slight variation on final figure

Sky Italia also confirm the transfer is nearing completion, though they place the option-to-buy clause slightly higher, at €7m. Corriere dello Sport backs that figure, with both outlets agreeing the player is due to arrive in Florence within the next few hours.

Despite the discrepancy, all major Italian sources align on the structure: a loan deal with a relatively modest permanent option.

Buonanotte arrival opens the door

Leeds completed the loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday. TMW suggest that move provided the “decisive push” for Harrison’s exit, easing squad congestion in wide areas.

While that claim may be overstated, the timing is notable. Harrison’s departure frees up both minutes and wages as Daniel Farke reshapes his squad for the second half of the season.

Key insights

  • Fiorentina have agreed a loan deal for Jack Harrison
  • Option to buy set between €6m and €7m
  • Leeds initially demanded around €15–17m
  • Medical expected within the next few hours
  • Buonanotte’s arrival helped unlock the move

What’s next?

If the medical proceeds as planned, Harrison will be unveiled by Fiorentina before the weekend. For Leeds, the focus now shifts to integrating Buonanotte and ensuring attacking depth is maintained despite the winger’s departure.

Is selling Jack Harrison at half the original asking price smart business by Leeds — or a missed opportunity?
