Jack Grealish West Ham transfer rumours have accelerated, with the Hammers making formal enquiries about a deal for the Manchester City star. Sources say Graham Potter has approved the move as the east London club hunts for a marquee wide man to replace Mohammed Kudus.

After landing El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for £19m, West Ham want to bolster their creative threat ahead of the Premier League opener away at Sunderland. And now Grealish — once English football’s £100m poster boy — has emerged as their shock new target.

“Grealish has been told he can leave this summer,” said a source close to City’s dressing room.

City Open to Exit as Grealish Faces Summer Crossroads

Manchester City have reportedly informed Grealish and his camp that they are open to offers this summer, despite Pep Guardiola still rating the 29-year-old as “outstanding”.

However, after a stop-start 2024/25 season with just 12 league starts, all parties agree it may be time for a reset. With wages of £300,000 per week, few clubs can afford him — but West Ham are hoping a loan with an option or obligation to buy can make the finances work.

Potter Wants Grealish to Lead New-Look West Ham Attack

With Kudus departing for £55m last week, Potter wants Grealish to bring guile, drive and top-level experience to the West Ham flanks. The manager is said to be pushing for the club to act fast, before Spurs, Newcastle or Aston Villa beat them to the punch.

2024/25 Premier League Stats Grealish Kudus Diouf

Big Chances Created 5 14 7*

Analyst Verdict

If West Ham can structure the deal right, this could be one of the best low-risk, high-reward signings of the summer. Grealish offers elite retention, Premier League experience and Champions League pedigree — but he must prove he still has the hunger. At 29, this is a pivotal move.

Key Insights

  • Grealish told he can leave Manchester City
  • West Ham eye loan with option to buy
  • Potter wants a Kudus replacement on the wing
  • Newcastle, Spurs and Villa also circling
  • City willing to compromise on exit terms

What’s Next?

Expect West Ham to step up talks in the coming weeks. If no club matches Grealish’s wages, a subsidised loan may be the only way out.

Would you take Grealish on loan at West Ham — or go all-in on someone younger?

Actually a typical West Ham transfer and I think this will be a good fit under Potter, in London - find his form back. Get the freedom he wants..
